Lund Boats Hosts MN State Senate Committee for Public Water Access Funding Visit

On Nov. 13, Lund Boats hosted four members of the Minnesota State Senate’s Capital Investment Committee—Senator Sandy Pappas, Senator Anne Johnson-Stewart, Senator Jordan Rasmusson, and Senator John Jasinski—along with eight staff members for a visit to the company’s New York Mills, Minn. facility. Attendees toured Lund’s state-of-the-art manufacturing operations, highlighting recreational boating’s innovation and leadership.

Following the tour of Lund’s manufacturing facilities, the group discussed an emerging proposal from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to continuously bond $50 million per year for public water access infrastructure. NMMA, joined by representatives from MN–FISH and the DNR, spoke of the critical need for sustained funding to maintain and expand these public resources. Investing in public water access is essential to sustaining Minnesota’s boating economy. Public water access infrastructure serves as the backbone of the recreational boating industry, which within Minnesota generates $6.9 billion each year and supports more than 25,000 jobs and 700 businesses across the state.

NMMA extends a special thank you to Lund Boats for hosting the Capital Investment Committee delegation. Collaborative efforts and manufacturing facility visits underscore the value of bringing policymakers, industry leaders, and state resource managers together to ensure public water access infrastructure continues to support recreational boating and local economies.
