National Association of State Boating Law Administrators Annual Conference Highlights Importance of Recreational Boating Safety
Last week, NMMA attended the 66th Annual National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) Conference in Des Moines, Iowa. Hosted by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, the NASBLA Annual Conference brought together state recreational boating safety (RBS) professionals and the broader RBS community for a dynamic mix of learning sessions, business meetings, training labs, and collaborative roundtables. The event also featured thought-provoking speakers, valuable training opportunities, an expansive expo hall, and robust networking.
The conference provided attendees a vital opportunity to engage directly with Boating Law Administrators and Department of Natural Resources staff from across the four regions NMMA represents—Midwest, New England, Southeast, and West. These conversations remain critical to strengthening state-level partnerships and ensuring that recreational boating safety continues to be a core priority across a wide range of jurisdictions and waterways.
NASBLA plays a central and indispensable role in the national recreational boating landscape. As a nonprofit organization representing the boating authorities of all 50 states and U.S. territories, NASBLA works tirelessly to develop sound public policy, promote effective education, and establish national standards for safe and responsible boating. The annual conference stands as a cornerstone event—providing a platform for the exchange of best practices, the identification of emerging safety challenges, and the collective advancement of initiatives that safeguard millions of boaters across the country.
By participating in the NASBLA Conference, NMMA reaffirms its commitment to working alongside state and national partners to promote a safer, more enjoyable, and more accessible boating experience for all.
