Earlier this summer, NMMA hosted a policy webinar, offering members a comprehensive update on priority state-level issues impacting the recreational boating industry. Held in June, the webinar featured key updates on tax and titling changes in Texas, PFAS regulations across the country, infrastructure investments, and a look ahead to the 2026 legislative session.

The webinar included an overview of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) laws from Jesse McArdell, who outlined how these regulations—requiring manufacturers to fund packaging waste programs—could impact marine businesses through new fees and packaging mandates. He highlighted enacted laws in five states and NMMA’s ongoing efforts to inform rulemaking and protect industry interests.

Additional briefings were delivered by Emily Villanueva, NMMA’s Western Policy and Engagement Manager, who detailed recent developments in Texas related to tax and boat titling. Sam Romano, NMMA’s Northeast Policy and Engagement Manager, shared updates on state efforts to regulate PFAS, and Ben Murray, NMMA’s State Government Relations Director, provided insights into infrastructure opportunities and emerging legislative trends as states begin preparing for the 2026 sessions.

The webinar served as an important touchpoint for NMMA members to stay informed and engaged on the evolving policy landscape. NMMA will continue to provide these updates as part of its broader mission to support and advocate for the recreational boating industry across all 50 states.
