NMMA Draws High-Profile Attention at National Conference of State Legislatures
The National Marine Manufacturers Association made waves at the 2025 National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) last week, drawing steady traffic to its industry exhibit and hosting a high-profile reception and on-water boat demonstrations attended by lawmakers from across the country.
Over the three-day summit, NMMA used its booth to highlight the economic power of recreational boating, showcasing a Sea Doo Switch provided by Billerica Motorsports, alongside data on the industry’s $230 billion annual economic impact and its support for more than 812,000 American jobs. Legislators and senior staff from dozens of states engaged with NMMA representatives on policy priorities, including manufacturing competitiveness, waterway access, infrastructure, and workforce development.
“Our presence at NCSL is about making sure state leaders understand the role this industry plays in their districts and economies,” said Robyn Boerstling, NMMA Senior Vice President of Government Relations. “We’re here to build partnerships and advance smart policy that keeps boating strong.”
On Tuesday evening, NMMA hosted a reception and on-water boat demonstrations that drew a bipartisan crowd of legislators, agency officials, and industry stakeholders. The event featured remarks from NMMA leadership and informal conversations with state policymakers from key recreational boating states such as Georgia, Florida, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.
The reception and booth capped a broader NMMA strategy to elevate recreational boating within state-level policy discussions. NMMA will be following up with multiple lawmakers in the coming weeks to offer facility tours, policy briefings, and other engagement opportunities.
The NCSL Legislative Summit is the nation’s largest gathering of state lawmakers and staff, drawing more than 8,000 attendees this year. This year’s conference featured policy sessions on economic development, workforce, infrastructure, and the environment—issues closely aligned with NMMA’s legislative agenda.
