City of Miami Mayor, Francis Suarez Cuts Ribbon to Open Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show

On Wednesday, February 14 at One Herald Plaza, City of Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and NMMA President Frank Hugelmeyer, together with Informa and the International Yacht Brokers Association, opened the doors to this year’s Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show – the world’s largest boat show.

In Florida, consistently the top-ranking state for boat sales and registrations, there is a deep appreciation for life on the water as well as the role boating plays as an economic driver for communities like Miami Beach and the City of Miami. The Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show generates $1.34 billion in economic impact in Florida.

“Recreational boating has had seen tremendous interest and demand in recent years as families sought outdoor recreation in record numbers,” said Frank Hugelmeyer, president of NMMA. “Today, we are a $230 billion U.S. industry that supports more than 800,000 jobs and sees more than 100 million Americans go boating every year. Thank you to Mayor Suarez for celebrating the opening of our show and the tremendous impact that recreational boating has on the Florida economy and across the U.S.”
