Operation Dry Water Kicks Off Tomorrow, Runs July 1-3
Operation Dry Water is a year-round boating under the influence awareness and enforcement campaign focused on reducing the number of alcohol- and drug-related incidents and fatalities. The 2023 national Operation Dry Water heightened awareness and enforcement three-day weekend will take place Saturday, July 1, through Monday, July 3.
Law enforcement agencies from every U.S. state and territory are expected to participate in the Operation Dry Water campaign, focusing their efforts on detecting impaired boaters and educating the public about the dangers of boating under the influence. In 2022, 630 local, state, and federal agencies participated in Operation Dry Water. Over the three-day heightened awareness and enforcement weekend law enforcement officers contacted 350,472 boaters, made 794 BUI arrests, and issued 45,067 citations and warnings for safety violations.
