NMMA Joins Recreational Boating Industry Leaders at Washington State’s Annual Advocacy Day

The NMMA team last month attended the Northwest Marine Trade Association (NMTA), Recreational Boating Association of Washington (RBAW), and the Olympia Yacht Club (OYC) for their annual Boating Advocacy Day in Olympia, Washington.

Joined by a variety of members of NMTA, RBAW, and OYC, Boating Advocacy Day serves as an opportunity to connect directly with legislators. The group met with members from both House and Senate committees on Agriculture, Appropriations, Capitol Budget, Environment & Energy, Outdoor Recreation, and Ways & Means. Each meeting was engaging and productive, with the coalition advocating for inclusive boating legislation including funding mobile pumpouts, removing derelict structures, and increasing infrastructure throughout the state.

According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, recreational boating and fishing remains the number one contributor to the outdoor recreation economy in Washington State, generating nearly $7 billion in economic impact in 2021.

The NMMA team looks forward to continuing its work alongside NMTA, RBAW and OYC to address issues facing the recreational boating industry across the state of Washington.
