Pennsylvania Elected Officials Join NMMA Member on a Boat Outing

Before Labor Day weekend, SureShade’s co-founders Ron and Dana Russikoff welcomed Pennsylvania elected officials from the federal, state, and local levels for a boat ride on the Delaware River to discuss riverfront development initiatives currently underway. These events are critical for highlighting the recreational boating industry’s impact and NMMA encourages all members to work with them on coordinating similar opportunities.

U.S. Congressman Brendan Boyle (D-PA-13), State Representative Mike Driscoll (PA’s 173rd District), City Councilman Bobby Henon (Philadelphia 6th District), Philadelphia City Councilmen At-Large Derek Green and Al Taubenberger, and former U.S. Congressman Bob Borski all participated in the outing. NMMA’s director of political advocacy and engagement, Erica Crocker also took part in the boat ride.

The event allowed everyone to view modernizations currently taking place, like the Riverfront North Greenway project, and helped spark discussion for further amenity development and re-imagining the riverfront as a destination for tourists. Because of recent congressional redistricting in Pennsylvania, the Delaware River area will now have 3 congressional representatives advocating for federal dollars for economic development, environmental, and other restoration initiatives.
