Correct Craft Hosts Senator Bill Nelson at Orlando Facility

Yesterday, U.S. Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) toured Correct Craft’s manufacturing plant in Orlando and met with the company’s executives to discuss how the Trump Administration’s trade policies are directly affecting their business. NMMA staff joined the event and encourages other members to work with them on scheduling facility visits with their respective elected officials; critically important opportunities for highlighting the recreational boating industry.

Correct Craft’s CEO, Bill Yeargin, conveyed to Senator Nelson that tariffs and the escalating trade war will force many U.S. manufacturers to raise prices on consumers and could force some companies to start laying off workers if things do not change soon. Mr. Yeargin has consistently advocated for resolving this conflicting, including in a recent interview on National Public Radio (NPR) and an opinion piece in the Sun Sentinel.

During the meeting, Senator Nelson stated that he is equally concerned with the administration’s trade policies and the threat they pose to Florida’s recreational boating industry, which supports thousands of businesses and jobs in the state. Mr. Nelson committed to working with the administration and his colleagues in Congress to solve the problem.

NMMA thanks Senator Nelson for participating in the event and his work to advance the industry’s priorities – including on Everglades restoration and the Modern Fish Act. Additionally, NMMA thanks Correct Craft for their work shining a light on our industry and the impact that policy decisions made in Washington, D.C. have on recreational boating.
