CARB Finalizes Recreational Marine Evaporative Emission Regulation
Pursuant to the 15-day notice following the Air Resources Board approval of a staff recommendation for a regulation, the California Office of Administrative Law has approved the rulemaking for “Evaporative Emissions Requirements for Spark-Ignition Marine Watercraft with Gasoline-Fueled Engines” and filed it with the Secretary of State on February 8, 2016. The effective date is April 1, 2016. NMMA supported the board action and our members worked closely with ARB staff to address some minor modifications during this notice period.
In the coming months, NMMA will work with ARB staff to assure that boat builders and evaporative emission component manufacturers have the information they need to begin certifying product for sale in California. This will include several webinars and IBEX presentations.
The requirements in this final rule apply to model year 2018 boats sold or offered for sale in California. For more information click here or contact John McKnight at [email protected].
