Annual NY Boat Show captures local and national media attention, efforts aimed to attract buyers

The 110th Progressive® Insurance New York Boat Show® wrapped up Sunday at the Javits Center, drawing significant local and national media attention, which helped drive traffic to the show and put boat shows and recreational boating in the spotlight nationwide.

The NY boat show kicked off with a media whirlwind attracting national outlets, such as USAToday.com, WSJ.com, and CBS national syndicated news. And on January 23, Keith Ammons from Discover Boating was featured on the Weather Channel’s national morning news program, Wake Up with Al, discussing boat shows and the latest in marine electronics with famous weatherman, Al Roker. To help drive awareness, further media efforts, and boost traffic to the show – which returned to its traditional mid-late January timeframe this year – the NMMA NY show team procured special partnerships including: the New York Fire Department, celebrating their 150th anniversary at the show, and the Emily Catherine Fedorko Foundation, onsite to promote safe boating with support from well-known radio personality Gary Dell’Abate, aka Baba Booey, from the Howard Stern Show, which resulted in multiple on-air mentions of the boat show on the nationally syndicated radio talk show.
