International Buyer Program Building Business for NMMA Members, Returning to Miami in 2015
The Progressive Insurance Miami International Boat Show has been selected to participate in the 2015 International Buyer Program (IBP) with the U.S. Department of Commerce for the third consecutive year. The program, which recruits international B2B buyers to the boat show, has helped to open international doors and expand export business for hundreds of NMMA members and exhibitors.
“Recreational boating continues to be an industry with tremendous potential for increasing U.S. exports. The Progressive Insurance Miami International Boat Show was selected for the 2015 International Buyer Program (IBP) based on its stature as a leading event for the promotion of U.S. products, services, and technology in this sector. In 2014, the IBP recruited more 200 international buyers to the show to meet with prospective U.S. suppliers. We look forward to working with NMMA to build on this success in 2015,” Gary Rand, director of the International Buyer Program.
In 2014, more than 160 NMMA members and exhibitors registered for the IBP at the boat show, providing them access to more than 200 international buyers from 22 countries around the world, along with U.S. Department of Commerce Industry Trade Specialists from nine embassies.
Buddy Morgan from DRSA, participant in 2014’s IBP, stated, “It was a great opportunity to lay the foundation by meeting the trade reps from many of the countries we are planning to expand business into. I also learned that the Department of Commerce is not only assisting in export but also assists in moving manufacturing from offshore source back to the U.S., which I am planning to take advantage of soon.”
Recruitment for buyers to visit the 2015 Miami Boat Show will begin in the fall, and NMMA will meet with the IBP team in Washington D.C. next month to finalize the plan for next year’s program.
Any NMMA member and/or boat show exhibitor is encouraged to participate. To learn more about this program and sponsorship opportunities, contact Julie Balzano, [email protected].
