Jim Currie Joins NMMA as Director of Federal Legislative Affairs

WASHINGTON, D. C., March 1, 2011 – Today, Jim Currie joins NMMA as Director of Federal Legislative Affairs. Currie comes to NMMA from the National Association of State Treasurers where he served as Director of Federal Relations. He will be based in NMMA’s Washington, DC office and work within the government relations practice.

A retired Colonel for the Army with 30 years of military service, Currie has experience working on Capitol Hill both on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and for the late Senator Lloyd Bentsen. He has broad experience in political science and communications, having taught at the National Defense College and lectured at a number of colleges and universities around the country. Currie also hosted a TV show called “America’s Army” and has authored three books. He holds a B.A. in History and Political Science from the University of Mississippi as well as a M.A. in History and Ph.D. in History from the University of Virginia.
