NMMA Congratulates President Trump on his Inauguration and Reaffirms Industry Policy Priorities
As President Trump and Vice President Vance begin their administration, the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) extends its congratulations to the new administration and looks forward to working together on policies that bolster economic growth and protect the strength of the recreational boating industry.
“The recreational boating industry values the President’s commitment to American prosperity and economic strength. As the world’s largest boating market, the United States leads a vibrant sector that supports 36,000 businesses, 800,000 jobs, and generates $230 billion in U.S. economic activity annually. As the new administration looks to protect and grow U.S. manufacturing through their tariff and trade agenda, we urge the administration to examine the past and current tariff actions, which created significant challenges for domestic boat builders and marine engine and accessory manufacturers. As a beloved American pastime and key driver of our nation's $1.2 trillion outdoor recreation economy, we encourage the administration to carefully consider the strategic economic importance of our industry as they advance their agenda.”
Ensure boater access to public waters – Recreational boating relies on strong policies that protect and expand access to public waterways, ensuring that millions of Americans can enjoy the benefits of time on the water.
Advance industry sustainability and innovation – NMMA is committed to supporting technological advancements and new propulsion techniques – such as sustainable marine fuels and electric and hydrogen-powered engines – to continue the industry’s innovation and self regulation in carbon reduction and environmental stewardship.
Keep U.S. marine manufacturing globally competitive – Fair trade policies and the extension of pro-growth legislation like the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act will allow domestic manufacturers to thrive in a competitive global marketplace.
Expand and improve recreation infrastructure – Investments in infrastructure, such as boat ramps, docks, and marinas, are essential to support the recreational boating industry’s continued growth and its positive impact on local economies.
