Southern Offices of Outdoor Recreation Continue to See Success in Growing Local Economies
State leaders across the southern region continue to see the value in establishing and growing state-led Offices of Outdoor Recreation (ORECs) and are experiencing continued economic growth due to the positive effects of the robust outdoor recreation economy.
NMMA’s latest Marine Minute highlights the success the southern region has seen in establishing offices of outdoor recreation in Arkansas and North Carolina. The Marine Minute may be viewed here.
Arkansas became the second state in the south – joining North Carolina and a growing list of states across the nation – to establish an OREC. These offices play a critical role in increasing outdoor recreation participation by working with local communities to improve infrastructure, coordinate recreation efforts statewide, and promote the benefits of outdoor recreation among the citizens of their state.
ORECs successfully ensure stakeholders have a seat at the table as state leaders work to enhance the outdoor recreation economy – including recreational boating and fishing – and promote economic recovery in the process. NMMA will continue to work with state leaders to develop, promote and further advance offices of outdoor recreation across the nation.
