NMMA Adds Former Congressional Staffer to Advocacy Team

NMMA recently announced that Jill Sims, former staffer in Congressman Dave Reichert’s (R-WA-08) office, joined the organization as its newest policy and engagement manager, supporting the association’s advocacy and grassroots activities in Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio. The hire comes as NMMA expands its advocacy footprint at the federal and state levels.

NMMA senior vice president of government relations and legal affairs Nicole Vasilaros notes, "Jill’s vast government relations experience, coupled with her time working on Capitol Hill and in the Midwest region, makes her an excellent addition to our team, and she will play a key role as we deepen our footprint and increase our state-level presence in the region."

Sims comes to NMMA from Capitol Hill, where she most recently served as Operations and Finance Manager for Congressman Reichert. She was the first liaison to constituents, industry stakeholders, and foreign government officials in Washington DC. Prior to her time on Capitol Hill, Jill worked in Minnesota on several political campaigns as well as at Teach for America.

Sims earned her master’s degree in Public Policy and Leadership from University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, MN. She is a native of Minnesota and grew up spending time out on the many Minnesota and Wisconsin lakes.
