New Powerboat Registrations Up 3 Percent through May

NMMA’s New Powerboat Registrations Report has been updated through May 2018 and preliminary data shows new powerboat registrations were up 3 percent on a rolling 12-month year-over-year basis (R12M YOY). Sales of freshwater fishing boats, personal watercraft, saltwater fishing boats, tow boats and yachts remain strong, up on both R12M and R3M bases YOY.

Highlights from the report include:

  • Nearly all boat segments were up, ranging from 3 to 6 percent R12M YOY through May, depending on the segment.
  • Registrations of boats 27’ and greater were up 11.5 percent R12M YOY. Of these, growth led by sales of saltwater fishing boats, which were up 16.3 percent R12M YOY.
