Virginia Watersports Bill Signed by Governor, Victory for Manufacturers

Governor Ralph Northam (Virginia) has signed into law that towed watersports, including wakesurfing, are allowed behind boats that have a propeller placed forward of the transom or an integrated swim platform. The new law will provide engine and boat builders with the flexibility needed to develop new drive technologies for towed watersports in the future. Wakesurfing is currently legal only behind powered by direct or v-drives. This law goes into effect July 1, 2018. Please contact State Govt. Relations Manager Libby Yranski, [email protected], with questions.
