Virginia Watersports Bills Pass Both Chambers, Loosen Wakesurfing Regulations

The Virginia Assembly and House have passed separate bills (SB 984 and HB 751) that allow towed watersports, including wakesurfing, behind boats that have their propeller placed forward of the transom or an integrated swim platform. The passage of these bills will provide engine and boat builders with the flexibility needed to develop new drive technologies for towed sports in the future. Wakesurfing is currently legal only behind boats powered by direct or v-drives. These bills will now move to their opposite chamber of origin for a vote and, if approved as expected, will be sent to the Governor for his signature. Please contact State Govt.
