NMMA's Government Relations Team Launches 'State of the Month'
As part of increased advocacy efforts in 2018, the NMMA government relations team is launching a new, 'State of the Month' initiative. The team will engage with members of Congress and their staff for top recreational boating and fishing states in a highly focused way, meeting with them on key issues impacting the industry. The first state will be Florida for the month of February. There are 27 members of Congress in Florida, the top boating state for boat registrations and new product sales, and nine of these members who are part of the Congressional Boating Caucus, including Boating Caucus co-chair Congresswoman Lois Frankel (D-FL). The NMMA team will shine a light on the boating industry in Florida in their meetings, timed with the Progressive Insurance Miami International Boat Show, an event which alone generates $854 million in annual economic impact for the state.
