Bill moves forward on deadline extension for ban of copper paint

The Washington Legislature is moving forward with SB 6333, a bill that NMMA supports, which would extend the deadline from 2018 to January 1, 2021 for a ban on the sale or application of copper-based anti-foulant paint with more than .5 copper.  The state will use the extra time to perform an exhaustive review of existing data and perform in-state studies of the impact of copper paint and e-paints to determine the environmental impact of copper, and e-paint chemicals. The bill has passed the Energy Committee and is pending in Rules.
