Miami-Dade County considering ordinance on un-encapsulated polystyrene

Marinas, docks and other marine facilities in Miami-Dade County should note that the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners is considering an ordinance that would require marine facilities to repair or replace un-encapsulated polystyrene if it shows evidence of degradation, shredding or other damage. In addition, no Class I permit will be issued for applicants using unencapsulated polystyrene.  The ordinance was passed unanimously on Jan. 17 by the county Government Operations Committee and next will be considered by the Commission for a final vote.
