NMMA Data Dashboard: Traditional powerboat retail unit sales up 3.8 percent through September

New NMMA data shows traditional powerboat retail unit sales were up 3.8 percent through the third quarter (September 2017). This comes as retail sales of nearly all traditional powerboat categories are growing on a year-over-year basis and as key economic indicators (consumer confidence, GDP, housing) continue moving positively in our industry’s favor. Encouraging news as the recreational boating industry prepares to head into the winter boat show season.

“Positive economic conditions and sustained consumer spending are contributing to a market favorable for continued retail sales growth,” said Thom Dammrich, NMMA president. “We’re seeing retail sales of aluminum outboards, ski boats, jet boats and personal watercraft increasing annually year-over-year compared to September 2016, while overall growth for traditional powerboats was offset by a slight dip in inboard cruisers along with a continued decline in sterndrive boats.”
