Florida Rejects Bill Blocking Youth from Operating Powerboats

A Florida bill (HB 1227) that would have prevented persons under 16-years of age from driving a boat, failed to pass before the legislature’s final adjournment last week.

This bill would have blocked younger boaters from operating a boat more than 10-feet long, unless they were under the direct supervision of a person 21-years-old or older. The bill was sponsored by Kristin Jacobs, D-Coconut Grove. The full version of HB 1227 can be viewed here.
