Congress to the EPA: Prevent E15-related Engine Damage

In a letter sent to EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy, 45 members of the House of Representative questioned the agency on what they have done to protect boat owners, and other small engine equipment consumers, from accidently misfueling with E15 and higher blends of ethanol. The bipartisan letter, spearheaded by the NMMA, requests pertinent information on the agency’s consumer outreach efforts to date, and on what plans the agency has to better educate our consumers in the future.

The letter came in response to the increasing ethanol mandates set forth by the EPA—with more E15 expected on the market, more needs to be done to ensure marine engines aren’t damaged due to misfueling. NMMA applauds Congressmen Goodlatte, Welch, Womack, Flores and Costa who were all instrumental in finalizing the letter and recruiting their colleague to sign on to the effort, and for their continued leadership on RFS reform related matters.
