Discovering Opportunities in the Spanish Boating Market 2014

Whether you are ramping up efforts again or looking to re-engage after the recession, learn about the current improving conditions of the Spanish market This 45 minute webinar addressed the growing opportunities in Spain as well as the NMMA’s efforts to lead the first USA Pavilion to the Salon Nautico de Barcelona in October, in conjunction with our strategic partners at the US Department of Commerce in Madrid.

Jose Fayos, Export Manager for ANEN (Spanish Marine Trade Association), discussed the current market situation in Spain as well as identified the most promising areas for growth. Recent legislative changes have eased the tax burdens imposed on boat ownership for vessels larger than 8 meters, opening up a new segment of the market for domestic and international boat builders. He highlighted the positive changes impacting Spain’s boating industry and discussed why companies in the medium size boat market, the superyacht refit sector and marina development should be focusing on Spain.

Julie Balzano, Export Development Director for NMMA, outlined a brief overview of the plans in place for the 1st USA Pavilion at the Barcelona Boat Show – including details for a planned interactive marina hop tour, to several area marinas, as part of the trip experience.

Korea’s Emerging Recreational Boating Industry and Opportunities for US Manufacturers – April 2nd, 2014

The recreational boating market in Korea is steadily growing with boat registration increasing by an average of 16% annually. The country’s extensive natural coastline is ideal for boating with twenty marinas now open and operational and 12 more under construction. Fishing and scuba diving are increasing in popularity too.

In just six years, the Korea International Boat Show has grown to become one of the 3 leading boat shows in Asia and an ideal platform for U.S. companies looking to sell to this growing market.

Additionally, the U.S.–Korea Free Trade Agreement provides new opportunities for U.S. exporters to sell American manufactured goods and services as import duties on boats and related products are phased out. These low barriers to market entry, coupled with “Made In America” quality and prestige, make it hard for domestic boat builders to compete with U.S. imported products.

This exclusive webinar addressed Korea’s emerging recreational boating industry, the Free Trade Agreement and opportunities to exhibit, with the support of the National Marine Manufacturers Association and the US Department of Commerce, in the Korea International Boat Show in June.  Click HERE to download the live recording.

Understanding International Payment Risks and Export Financing Solutions

This free webinar addressed key information and action steps for those who are either actively engaged in exporting or hoping to do so. With over 95% of the world’s consumers located outside of the United States, NMMA wants to ensure that you are turning export opportunities into real transactions.  The NMMA and the US Department of Commerce continue our partnership to identify qualified speakers to share their knowledge with you, free of cost and from the comfort of your own office.

Exporters can face unique financial challenges:  longer cash-flow cycles, payment risks, foreign bank exposures, foreign currency risks, regulatory hurdles, etc.  Learn from one of our country’s leading global trade bankers about approaches and solutions that are available to support export working capital and minimize risks.  Programs offered with the support of the U.S. Export Import Bank (ExIm), the Small Business Administration and other financing solutions will be explored.

NMMA also invited the owner of a small NMMA Member accessory manufacturing company to share his personal thoughts and experiences regarding ExIm bank’s programs specifically. Thanks to ExIm bank, his company no longer has to turn away potential international buyers or assume any significant payment risks.

The 5 Greatest Secrets of Selling at Boat Shows

Have you heard about The 5 Greatest Secrets of Selling at Boat Shows? The information presented in this NMMA Webinar series was the result of more than two decades of research revealing how customers open up immediately to a salesperson’s approach at a boat show event. This system works so well that customers will often reveal their full intent at a show in less than 60 seconds! Just imagine how many customers you could meet with if the entire greeting and qualification process took less than 60 seconds. This amazing insight was shared with NMMA Webinar attendees, and no you can learn the secret too.

By placing microphones on salespeople from boat shows to show rooms and publicly videotaping the sales process, they discovered through hundreds of hours of video taping more than 50 new challenges facing salespeople today. To listen and view the webinar on The 5 Greatest Secrets of Selling at Boat Shows, click here
