The fourth section report of NMMA's 2015 U.S. Recreational Boating Statistical Abstract, titled Boat & Engine Exports & Imports 1996–2015, is now available for download by NMMA members here. This year, the Statistical Abstract, which contains thousands of data points and insights on the boating industry, features a new format and schedule with each section released individually as the statistics are available.

Findings from NMMA’s Boat & Engine Exports & Imports 1996–2015 report include:

  • Imports of recreational boats and marine engines coming into the U.S. rose 28% in value in 2015, driven by increases in imports of large inboard cruisers, sterndrive boats, and personal watercraft.
  • Meanwhile, exports declined by 18.5% in 2015, reflecting the continued rise in value of the U.S. dollar (which had reached a 14-year high in late 2015/early 2016) against other currencies.
  • For more information on the types of boats and engines exported/imported, where they landed or originated, spanning 20 years’ worth of historical trending data and much more, please view the complete report.
