NMMA mourns loss of friend and industry leader, President of Chaparral and Robalo, Jim Lane

NMMA is sad to share the news that President of Chaparral and Robalo Boats, Jim Lane, has passed away. "Jim was a great supporter of NMMA and I always enjoyed my time with him. He was on the search committee that hired me sixteen and a half years ago. His passing is a significant loss.  Our sympathies to his wife, Damaris and the Chaparral family. May God bless Jim, Damaris, his family, and the entire Chaparral family," noted NMMA President Thom Dammrich.

Jim was a friend to NMMA and one of the industry's biggest champions. A statement from Chaparral notes that as President of Chaparral and Robalo Boats, Jim came on board with company founder, Buck Pegg, in 1976 and formed one of boating’s most successful and long lasting partnerships. Active in a wide range of industry associations, Jim was Finance Chairman and also served on the Board of Directors of NMMA. Additionally, he was both a founding member and served as Chairman of the American Boat Builders Association.

A memorial for Jim has been planned for 3:30p.m. on Thursday, March 24th at Crossroads Baptist Church located at 3001 Country Club Drive in Valdosta, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers the family has respectfully requested donations in Jim’s honor to the Crossroads Baptist Church in Valdosta, Georgia or the Leukemia Society:
