These Labels are available from NMMA Engineering Standards Department. NMMA members may be asked to prepay some orders. Non-members will be asked to prepay ALL orders. Allow four weeks for delivery of quantity orders.

EPA EVAP Label

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently granted boatbuilders an extension until Model Year 2010 to meet labeling requirements for the evaporative emission regulation it finalized on October 8, 2008. In the regulation, the agency requires boat builders to install low permeation fuel lines on all boats manufactured beginning January 1, 2009 or when boat builder depletes its non-compliant hose inventory. EPA recently clarified its rule by providing guidance that will allow boat builders to delay the requirement for Emission Control Information Labels until July 31, 2009, which signals official start of the 2010 model year. These labels appear on the boat's helm and confirm compliance with EPA mandated evaporative emission standards as outlined in the October 2008 rulemaking.

The EPA has clarified that generic labels are not permitted. The NMMA label has been approved by the EPA; this semi-custom label includes the manufacturers name and location. Label measures 1" x 3 ½"

Trailer Checklist

Trash Overboard Label

An owner/operator required label for boats 26 feet or longer as required by Annex V of the MARPOL Treaty.

“Oil Discharge” Label

A carriage requirement for boats 26 feet or longer as required by Annex V of the MARPOL Treaty.

Safety Labels

CO and Prop Label Sheet

This sheet of labels combines the two CO labels (Transom and Helm) and the two Propeller Warning labels (Transom and Helm) required by ABYC H-41 and NMMA Certification. This sheet identifies the placement for each label and is less expesive than purchasing each label individually. Each sheet contains one of each label.

CO Transom Label (NW 206)

This label is required on all boats sold in the State of California in accordance with AB2222. It reads “Carbon monoxide (CO) can cause brain damage or death. Engine and generator exhaust contains odorless and colorless carbon monoxide gas. Carbon monoxide will be around the back of the boat when engines or generators are running. Move to fresh air if you feel nausea, headache, dizziness, or drowsiness.”

CO Cabin Label (NW 205)

This label reads “Carbon monoxide (CO) can cause brain damage or death. Carbon Monoxide can be present in the cabin. Signs of carbon monoxide poisoning include nausea, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, and lack of consciousness. Get fresh air if anyone shows signs of carbon monoxide poisoning. Get fresh air if carbon monoxide detector alarm sounds. Carbon monoxide detector must be functioning at all times.”

CO Helm Label (NW 204)

This label is required on all boats sold in the State of California in accordance with AB2222. Reads “Carbon monoxide (CO) can cause brain damage or death. Prop 65 Hang Tag

This flexible plastic hangtag is designed for all boats sold in the State of California in accordance with Prop 65.

Prop Helm Label (NW 207)

This label is required in ABYC H-41. It reads “Rotating propeller may cause serious injury or death. Shut off engine when near persons in the water.”

Prop Transom Label (NW 208)

This label is required in ABYC H-41. It reads “Rotating propeller may cause serious injury or death. Do not approach or use ladder when engine is running.”

Fuel System Warning

This label reads: “Warning: Avoid serious injury or death from fire or explosioin resulting from leaking fuel. Inspect system for leaks at least once a year.”

Deck Rail Warning

This label reads: “Warning: Avoid personal injury. Stay inside deck rails (and gates) when boat is underway.”

Flammable Liquids

This label reads: “Warning: No ventilation is provided. Fuel vapors are a fire and explosion hazard. Do not store fuel or flammable liquids here.” For posting in unventilated compartments where portable fuel tanks should not be stored.
