NOAA's Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary Launches Boater Education Course

NOAA recently announced the launch of a free, online boater education course designed to specifically inform the boating public about the natural and historical resources within Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. This educational tool, available in English and Spanish, complements existing safe boating courses and was developed with input from a variety of stakeholders, interest groups, and agencies.

The sustained health of the Florida Keys is vital to the tourist-based Florida economy. This course will provide strategies for responsible boating and stewardship and highlight relevant rules and regulations.

This course is a component of Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary’s current management plan review process and was developed in partnership with Indiana University’s Eppley Institute for Parks and Public Lands with funding through a Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary Water Quality Protection Program Special Studies grant administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Additional partnership support was provided by the National Parks Conservation Association.
