America’s Boating Club Launches Boater Education Learning Centers

United States Power Squadrons – America’s Boating Club has launched its dedicated educational facilities – America’s Boating Club Learning Centers. The first Learning Center is located at the Fisherman’s Cove Resort in Tavares, Fla. Additional locations in Alameda, Calif., and Galveston, Tx. will open later this year. The initial schedule of hands-on boating courses will include regular classes on Saturdays and Sundays. Classes will be expanded to mid-week to match demand.

According to their press release, the Learning Centers courses build confidence at the helm while students are under the supervision of certified instructors. Participants develop and elevate safe boat handling skills and techniques through classroom sessions and professional on-the-water training. Each session is tailored to provide personal coaching for every student. Classes are suitable for beginners and advanced boaters.

America’s Boating Club is looking for partners to help build its fleet of training boats.

The typical training boat has the following specifications:

  • Center console style (inshore or coastal, depending on training location)
  • 20’-23’ length, 8-1/2’ beam
  • T-Top or Bimini
  • 150-200 hp outboard
  • Hydraulic steering
  • Seating for 5, capacity for 8

This type of vessel provides and an excellent learning platform for students. It is lightweight, has good handling characteristics, and provides great visibility for the operator. It also allows the instructor to interact with the students effectively.
