On Monday, the United States Trade Representative (USTR) posted a Federal Register notice announcing the process for its proposed Section 301 tariff of 25 percent on an additional $300 billion worth of Chinese products (List 4). USTR’s action follows a recent setback in trade negotiations between the U.S. and China and would apply a 25 percent tariff on all remaining Chinese imports that were not contained in the first three lists of Section 301 tariffs.
The full USTR notice, including List 4 products, is available here: https://ustr.gov/sites/default/files/enforcement/301Investigations/May_2019_Proposed_Modification.pdf
USTR will hold a public hearing on its most recent round of Section 301 tariffs on Monday, June 17, 2019 in Washington, D.C. – the deadline for submitting a request to appear is Monday, June 10, 2019. Additionally, USTR is accepting written comments until Monday, June 17.
NMMA will participate in the public hearing and submit written comments and encourages all effected stakeholders to testify and file a submission.
