NMMA Provides Guidance on Requesting Exclusion from First List of Section 301 Tariffs

NMMA is notifying members of an opportunity to request relief from the first tranche of Section 301 tariffs on $34 billion in goods imported from China. Back in July, the U.S. government began imposing a 25 percent tariff on select Chinese products – including propellers, hydro jet engines, combustion engines, fuel injection pumps, manufacturing machinery, antenna receivers, display monitors, and navigational instruments.

A full list of affected products is available here: https://ustr.gov/sites/default/files/enforcement/301Investigations/List%201.pdf. [Note: This is not the $200 billion list the administration released earlier this week (Monday, September 17, 2018)]

The U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) has developed a system for requesting an exclusion, and NMMA is encouraging all affected members to file a submission. Click here to access the official Section 301 tariff exclusion form: https://www.regulations.gov/document?D=USTR-2018-0025-0002

The deadline for filing an exclusion request is Tuesday, October 9, 2018.

In addition, NMMA has developed a helpful guide on the USTR’s submission procedures, which is available here: http://nmma.net/assets/cabinets/Cabinet517/180918_Section%20301%20Exclusion%20Request%20FAQ.pdf

NMMA is here to help you every step of the way and will submit a letter of support for your product exclusion request.
