Sold Out Miami Boat Show Innovation Breakfast Honors Best New Marine Products, Industry Greats

The 2018 Progressive Insurance Miami International Boat Show Innovation Breakfast, held on Friday, February 16, celebrated the marine industry’s most innovative products, services and pioneers in front of a sold out crowd of 420 at Miami Marine Stadium Park on Virginia Key.

The Innovation Breakfast included a host of award presentations including the Customer Satisfaction Index Awards, recognizing 50 boat and engine manufacturers for excellence in customer satisfaction; Innovation Awards, honoring 19 exceptionally groundbreaking new marine industry boats or products; the Charles Chapman Awards, presented to Phil Cappel, United States Coast Guard, and Tom Marhevko, National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA); and the Alan J. Freedman Memorial Leadership Award, honoring Giuseppe Carnevali, founder and former CEO of Navionics.

Other highlights of the Innovation Breakfast included:

  • Welcome by Larry Berryman, show manager
  • State of the Industry Address, Thom Dammrich, NMMA president – access Dammrich’s presentation here (presentation labeled Thom Dammrich, State of the Recreational Boating Industry, Feb. 16, 2018)
  • Presentation by Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) President Frank Peterson on consumer trends to recruit new anglers and boaters
  • Remarks by Kris Mayer, general director, GM wholesale, marine and industrial sales on GM Marine Engine Technology in the marine industry

The 2018 Innovation Breakfast was presented by GM Marine Engine Technology and the RBFF, with support from Enterprise Florida.
