Industry Leaders Convene for Congressional Briefing on State of Boating

Four of the boating industry’s most influential organizations were on Capitol Hill this week to address members of the Congressional Boating Caucus and their staff. The group gathered on Wednesday for a briefing on the state of the nation’s recreational boating and fishing industries. Thom Dammrich, president of the National Marine Manufacturers Association, opened the meetings, which took place in both the House and Senate and provided an annual overview of the boating industry; Mike Nussman, president & CEO of the American Sportfishing Association, followed with an overview of the state of the recreational fishing industry. Matt Gruhn, president of the Marine Retailers Association of the Americas, joined Margaret Podlich, president of BoatU.S., to answer policy related questions alongside Dammrich and Nussman.

The two briefings gathered more than 70 attendees who listened and asked questions regarding the boating and fishing industries as well as our top legislative priorities including a path forward for reforming the Renewable Fuel Standard. The briefing set the stage for this year's American Boating Congress where the industry will gather as a whole to focus on legislative priorities, hear from experts and meet directly with Members of Congress. ABC takes place May 9-11 at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, DC. Click here for more details on attending!
