California Copper Report Released

California officials have moved another step toward regulating copper-based bottom paint, with a report that focuses on the rate that the paint “leaches” copper into the water.  The reports include best practices to reduce the leach rate, as well the California Toxic Rule of 3.1 parts per billion dissolved copper as the statewide definition of an impaired waterway, and a maximum leach rate for copper paints.  The leach rates are very aggressive.
