2016 Miami Boat Show Triples Hotel Block, Securing Premier Partners Throughout Miami to Accommodate New Location

Miami, Fla. – July 8, 2015 – The Progressive® Insurance Miami International Boat Show® announced today a 203% increase in the number of hotel room nights in its exclusive room block for the 2016 show, taking place at the iconic Miami Marine Stadium Park and Basin. The Miami Boat Show has contracted with 29 hotels throughout downtown Miami and surrounding areas to offer the 100,000+ attendees a convenient stay and seamless show experience throughout the Feb. 11-15, 2016 event over President’s Day weekend. To date, the number of room nights available in the boat show’s room block has surpassed 10,000—triple the room nights (3,300) made available for the 2015 boat show. With eight months until show time, 25% of the room nights within the block have been booked.

The Miami Boat Show has a 74-year history in Miami-Dade County, generating $600 million in economic activity and supporting 55,000 Florida jobs. In addition, the event promotes international and domestic tourism in Miami, with boat show patrons and exhibitors filling up approximately 200,000 hotel room nights throughout the greater Miami area annually and spending an estimated $83 million while in town attending the boat show.*

“This year we increased the number of rooms in the boat show’s official room block to ensure boat show attendees have a seamless experience at the new location, and we are thrilled with the boost in hotel activity and tourism we’re already seeing,” said Cathy Rick-Joule, vice president for the NMMA and show manager for the Miami Boat Show. “We are grateful for the support from the City of Miami and our hotel partners, whose commitment will help us deliver the best boat show in the world that our exhibitors and attendees have come to expect.”

In order to secure the exclusive discounted show rate available only in the boat show hotel room block, reservations must be secured through onPeak. To compliment boat show lodging and parking (more than 10,000 spaces secured in downtown Miami), show organizers have constructed a comprehensive transportation plan in conjunction with the City of Miami inclusive of free water taxi and shuttle bus ride services that will be available to take attendees to and from the show, ensuring ease and accessibility for all attending with pick-up and drop-off points stationed at numerous parking garages, ports and hotels throughout Miami, offering a quick and efficient 15-20 minute ride depending on departing location. Free water taxi service will also be made available to and from the Strictly Sail® location of the Miami Boat Show at Miamarina at Bayside from Miami Marine Stadium Park & Basin.
