Quality Assurance

NMMA is your “technical consultant” providing you with the information and tools you need to achieve excellence in manufacturing and customer service. Our Certification programs for boats, yachts, trailers, PWCs and marine oil provide the information members need to meet or exceed industry standards and demonstrate a commitment to quality and safety. We provide small and large boat and engine manufacturers a dynamic, cost-effective tool to measure and improve their customer satisfaction. And we help build a strong work force through cost-effective and interactive training programs.

To demonstrate its commitment to boating safety and a quality consumer experience, NMMA is requiring that all boat manufacturer members have their boats NMMA certified to ABYC standards, effective with the 2007 model year. An additional element of NMMA certification is a documented customer satisfaction measurement program instituted at your company (members will not be required to use the NMMA CSI program). NMMA is launching a major communications program to raise awareness of NMMA Certified for manufacturers, dealers and consumers.

NMMA oversees boat, yacht, trailer and personal watercraft certification applications, inspections and approvals to ensure product quality. The more than 150 boat, houseboat and trailer manufacturers who participate in the program represent 75 percent of all boats produced in the United States each year.

Program participants benefit from third party verification that their product has been built to industry safety standards which strengthens their brand and builds consumer confidence in their product.
